Ceremonial work is often built and struck within days around a fixed event time. The design has to be photogenic, safe under crowd conditions, and completely removable without leaving a trace.
Commissioned work in ceremony & launch decor normally runs from 6 to 30 m², with 3–9 working days in production from approved drawings. The reference range for this technique is CNY 800–2500 per m², quoted itemised. It sits within our Exhibition & Event Build capability, alongside 7 related techniques, and the 4-point deliverable below is what a commission includes as standard.
When ceremony & launch decor is the right answer - and when it is not
Ceremony and event dressing is chosen where a space must carry the formality and the meaning of a specific occasion - openings, groundbreakings, award ceremonies, anniversaries. The brief therefore includes what the occasion means and any protocol that applies, not only how it should look. The dates are immovable and the setup windows are usually short. It is worth being clear about the limits: this is dressing rather than construction, so it suits an occasion that needs a space transformed for hours, and it is the wrong route where the result has to remain in place afterwards, which is permanent construction work with a permanent programme.
How the work is actually carried out
The programme is built backwards from the ceremony time, with setup and rehearsal windows fixed before the design is finalised. Elements are modular so a small team can dress the space quickly, and the focal point - where the ribbon, plaque or presentation happens - is designed first with everything else arranged around it. Colour and form follow the occasion and any protocol, and the whole scheme is checked against the venue's access and rules. Strike is planned with the same care as setup. Everything is labelled and packed by position, because dressing a venue under time pressure only works if the boxes arrive in the order the space is built, and a rehearsal of the focal moment is scheduled before the ceremony rather than left to chance.

Faults we see most often in ceremony & launch decor
Each of these is a field failure rather than a workshop one, and each is cheaper to prevent at enquiry stage than to correct after installation.
- Designing before confirming the setup window, when that window is what actually governs what is possible.
- Treating protocol as decoration, using colours or forms that are wrong for the occasion.
- Planning the build and neglecting the strike, which is where venues and clients most often fall out.
What to settle before an overseas project starts
| Ceremony protocol | Tell us what the occasion requires - colours, forms, sequence, and who stands where. Protocol is a design input. |
|---|---|
| Setup and strike windows | Both are usually tight and immovable. Send them and we will design to what is genuinely achievable. |
| Venue rules | Access, rigging, fire and time restrictions. Ceremonial venues often have strict requirements worth confirming early. |
