Signage in a landscape has to belong there while still being readable. We design boards, panels and map structures that sit correctly against their setting and survive the exposure they will actually face.
Commissioned work in scenic-area signboards normally runs from 6 to 30 m², with 17–33 working days in production from approved drawings. The reference range for this technique is CNY 200–1200 per m², quoted itemised. It sits within our Signage & Wayfinding capability, alongside 9 related techniques, and the 4-point deliverable below is what a commission includes as standard.
When scenic-area signboards is the right answer - and when it is not
Scenic area signage is chosen where visitors must orient themselves in an outdoor environment with multiple routes, attractions and facilities, often in weather and often in a second language. It suits scenic areas, parks, trails, nature reserves and tourist attractions. The design must be legible outdoors at distance while sitting within a natural setting rather than dominating it.
How the work is actually carried out
The site's routes and attractions are mapped first, then the signage is placed at the points where a visitor genuinely needs to make a decision. Materials are chosen for the local climate and for minimal maintenance, since scenic signage is often far from easy access, and the palette is selected to sit within the landscape rather than to stand out from it. Content is prepared in every language the site receives, with names, distances and times consistent between the map and the route markers. Durability and vandal resistance are considered at specification stage.

Faults we see most often in scenic-area signboards
Each of these is a field failure rather than a workshop one, and each is cheaper to prevent at enquiry stage than to correct after installation.
- Designing signage that competes visually with the landscape it is there to serve, which is the most common criticism of scenic wayfinding.
- Inconsistent distances and times between the map and the route markers, which destroys visitor trust in the whole system quickly.
- Specifying low-maintenance materials for a remote site and then discovering access for cleaning is impractical.
What to settle before an overseas project starts
| Routes and decision points | Send the site map with attractions and the points where visitors genuinely have to choose. Signage goes there. |
|---|---|
| Languages required | Tell us the languages the site receives. Names and terminology must be consistent across every one of them. |
| Climate and maintenance access | Remote sites need durable materials and low cleaning needs. Tell us the exposure and how often anyone can reach the signs. |
